What’s up with Journeyman?

I seem to be getting a few hits about Journeyman (the show that is under threat of cancellation!) so I thought I’d write a bit more.

The people over at savejourneyman.net and the other Save Journeyman sites have decided upon sending Rice-A-Roni to the NBC offices. Originally it was going to be aspirin, because Dan gets headaches before he goes back in time, but they realised that charities wouldn’t be likely to accept a whole bunch of medicine. Instead they stuck to foodstuffs. Rice-A-Roni, originally from San Francisco, is known as “The San Francisco Treat”. (This is all new to me!)

Last week a new episode of Life aired in Journeyman‘s regular time slot. I think it rated slightly better than Journeyman has in the past few weeks, but not by much. It was also helped by CSI: Miami repeats being shown on CBS and I can’t remember what was on ABC. I also don’t know how heavily the timeslot change was promoted. Fans of Life would have followed it to Monday if they knew about it, but people who had never watched Journeyman aren’t likely to want to watch it if they didn’t know about.

Tonight it airs at its regular timeslot, after two hours of Deal or No Deal. I’m not sure whether that’s popular over there in the States. And if it, are Deal or No Deal viewers likely to stick around to watch a pretty much sci-fi show, at 10PM? I doubt it.

I think, unfortunately, that unless NBC moves it to a different timeslot, Journeyman‘s days are numbered.

Teaching life skills via… The O.C.

That might sound like a strange title, but it’s what’s happening on France 2 in twenty minutes. They are showing Newport Beach (as it’s called in French) every day (starting from the first season) as part of thing called Mag 2.0. Each day they take a theme from The O.C. (today’s is “bad reputation”) and people can talk about it via webcam, on the forum, by a web form, and by text message.

And it looks like they are looking for people like Ryan, Marissa and Seth as well. They are looking for “un bad boy”, “une jeune fille attirée par les bad boys” and “une personne introvertie”. What they will do with them I do not know. Maybe they will talk on TV about their lives.

Tomorrow the theme is (roughly) “I want to give up” (or maybe “chuck it in” as the dictionary says “plaquer” means to chuck. Also means to tackle in rugby. You know, the episode where Ryan goes and lives in one of the Newport Group’s model homes, and ends up setting it on fire.

Rugby World Cup 2007 broadcasters

I’ve been trying to find out what channel the Rugby World Cup would be broadcast on in the UK because that’s most likely where I’ll be when it’s on. It’s been very difficult finding that information, so I thought I would post what I know here in case someone else is looking for the same information.

So, in no particular order, the broadcasters that I know of are:

  • New Zealand: TV3
  • United Kingdom: ITV
  • France: TF1

OK, so that’s not really a very complete list but it will do for now. I tried looking for an “official broadcasters” page on the RWC web site but couldn’t find one. It would be a good idea if they don’t have one already. If you have any more information to add please leave a comment!
